Kansas State 45 - Texas 42

This game brought back painful memories of 2001 when Tennessee beat Florida, to give Texas a chance to go to the MNC. Four turnovers and a ruffing the kicker did the Horns in against a good Colorado team, in what turned out to be the best game I've ever been to that ended in a Texas loss. I was getting my hopes up all day thinking that things were falling into place for the Horns, but it was not to be this year. As disappointing as the loss was, we still have all of our goals ahead of us. A few thoughts:

-This was a "trap" game, but I didn't think the Horns came out flat. That first drive was great, and showed that they came to take care of business.
-Our power running game has been one of the most disappointing phases this year. If we punch the ball, maybe Colt doesn't get hurt.
-Billy Pittman finally had a great game with 6 catches for 102 yards
-We had Bi-polar special teams play. Good: Blocked Punt, Stuffed the fake punt. Bad: They blocked a punt, gave up a big punt return, horrible onside kick.
-Limas has caught a TD in 7 straight games
-What was Marcus griffin doing on the half back pass for a TD? He was in position, but instead of finding the receiver, he stood flat-footed on the goal line and didn't break until the ball was thrown.
-I thought Sneed played great. Give him credit for being ready to play and the coaches credit for having him ready to play.
-We have got to hang onto the ball!! Remember last year how many of our own fumbles we recovered, we are not always going to get those types of breaks.
-I was extremely proud of our boys. When the game was 42-21 the easy thing to do would be to call it a night. They kept playing hard and got back in the game, to give us a chance to win. Also, I've read that there was a great moment after the game. After things calmed down on the field, the team came back out of the locker room, walked all the way across the field, and sang "The Eyes". Only in college football!!
-Give K-State credit for playing a great game and taking advantage of opportunities. Prince looks like he has the program headed in the right direction, which would be great for the Big XII.
-This game hurt, we made mistakes, but we fought hard and still have a lot to play for. Remember, if "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we would all have a merry Christmas.

Weekend Thoughts:
-Was it just me or did Fran look like he was trying to prove a point to the A&M fans. After being criticized for not running J-train the week before, he was presented the same situation. He lined up in the shot gun, sent J-train in motion, and through a pass. If you really think a passing play is best then at least run a play action. If he really was trying to prove a point, that's Bush League!! Have some balls, and just tell the fans to shut-up, it's your team, but don't cost your team a chance to win, by showing that you do things your way.
-Great win for Rice over Tulsa. Keep your eye on Todd Graham and Major, they could both be in the running to coach the Horns one day.
-Not from the weekend but last night on Friday Night Lights Abilene was referred to as "the city of opportunity." Thought that was kind of funny.

Any other thoughts about the Texas game or the weekend?

Coach Brown had a good point on his weekly interviews that you can watch over the internet. He said we should have scored to go up 28-21 but we fumbled. K-State scores, we get the ball back and punt giving them a short field. They score again. We get the ball back and the punt is blocked. They score again. They scored 21 points in 3 minutes. Hard to overcome that.
Of course you can argue they were just sitting on a lead but after that we were ok. We just self-imploded for 3 minutes and it killed us.
